cyberattack in Nowdays

Japan's National Police Agency has attributed over 200 cyberattacks in the past five years to the Chinese hacker group MirrorFace. These attacks targeted national security and high-tech data, affecting entities such as the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and private companies. MirrorFace employed phishing emails with malware and exploited VPN vulnerabilities to infiltrate systems.
In Hong Kong, the British engineering firm Arup suffered a cyberattack involving deep fake techniques, resulting in losses exceeding £25 million. Attackers used fabricated voices, signatures, and images to deceive an employee into transferring funds to multiple accounts. Although project deliveries remained unaffected, the financial impact led to reduced bonus payments for staff.
